Teacher Roles...
Organizer, Facilitator, Participant, Instructor, Model, Manager, Diagnostician, Evaluator, Coordinator, and Communicator. These roles that a teacher must fill are all great. I do believe that when i become a teacher I will fill these roles. Actually I work at the YMCA in the afternoons and I already have to fill some of these roles if not all of them. I believe that all of these teacher roles create an equilibrium in a teacher's life. If a teacher does this right then they can create a great learning environment for the students. I feel like the best one that a teacher can display is to be a participant with the students. I feel like it works best for the students if they have someone that can be a friend (of sorts) as well as a disciplinary person. I feel like a teacher that hold all of these qualities can create better activities for the children to have all that they can.

Affect/Effect...
I like this statement. I think that Ralph Fletcher was saying that in order to learn things you need to let someone else teach you things, so that you can teach other people the same things. In a writing community the teacher has to be able to listen to her children and learn from then, and use what she has learned to teach her students as well. In a writing community there has to be an equilibrium of learning and teaching in order to create a great atmosphere. So yes.. in order for you to affect someone, you must first allow them to effect you!!!

To read or not to read...
Writing and reading...
Reading writing...
I love fantasy and I love feeling like a piece of writing is taking me on some adventure. For me writing that makes me feel certain ways are worth reading to me. Writing has to be emotional and moving. It has to make a point. I don't normally like persuasion papers, but if a person can write a good paper and persuade me to do something then I would love to read it. I don't know what makes compels me to read certain writings but I love to read so I basically read anything. I also LOVE to read things written by children because I love their imagination and they way they write freely. Even though I have given you reasons about why I like to read any writing, there is still not a definitive reason as to why writing is worth reading.

How Did I Learn to Read...
"To read is to fly: it is to soar to a point of vantage which gives a view over wide terrains of history, human variety, ideas, shared experience and the fruits of many inquiries." -A C Grayling
There was more of an emphasis on phonics when I was growing up. My parents were raised in Trinidad and their schooling was British based. That is how I was raised. The British learn using a lot of phonics. With this they are able to learn words easier, ALTHOUGH the children say words as they are spelled. To this day, I can't even say some words right. It takes me a little while to look at it and sound it out... but I am glad that phonics is the way I learned because it is also easier for me to spell and "guess" a word more quickly. Yeah its kind of oxymoronic right :) When I started the American school system, there was an equal amount of reading types. This helped me learn even more about reading and it also helped me to become a better reader. This helps me to be able to help students with different ways to learn ways to read and comprehend what they are reading.
Well, hope everything is going well for you!!!
Talk to you SOON!
